John Peterson

John Peterson (JP) is a widely respected cybersecurity startup veteran, inventor, and technology leader with more than three decades of experience helping shape the modern cybersecurity industry. After beginning his career at US Robotics in the early 1990s and later continuing at Cisco Systems, JP became known for his contributions as a technical leader, product innovator, and sales engineering executive at numerous influential cybersecurity companies during their earliest stages of growth, including Netscreen, Fortinet, Barracuda, Zscaler, and Comodo, contributing through IPOs, acquisitions, and industry expansion.
Throughout his career, JP has played foundational roles in the creation of groundbreaking cybersecurity technologies. As founding Chief Product Officer at Stellar Cyber, he was the primary inventor behind the Stellar Open XDR platform. At Ericom, he invented the company’s Zero Trust security platform, which later contributed to Ericom’s acquisition by Ericsson.
Today, JP serves as Co-Founder and Co-CEO of PRE Security, where he is the inventor of the world’s first AI-Native Predictive SecOps Platform. His work focuses on applying generative, predictive, and agentic AI to solve longstanding Security Operations challenges. He is also the inventor behind multiple cybersecurity innovations and patents, including Log2NLP, a technology that converts cybersecurity logs into natural language representations (and back again), enabling innovations such as Parserless™ ingestion, universal data collection, next-event prediction, and advanced AI-driven security analytics.
John Peterson is also a proud United States Marine Corps veteran.
